About Me

Hello! I'm Phoenix! Born in St. George, Utah. I was quickly moved, with my family (of course) to the lush Willamette Valley in Oregon. I've spent most of my life in this wonderful area, with a few exceptions. The greenery gives me life and helps to fuel my dreams, although my loving husband plays a major role in that endeavor. He has been my steadfast companion on this literary journey. 

From a young age, I harbored the dream of becoming a writer, filling countless notebooks during family trips and through every day life. Insecurities have held me back, but with the support of my husband and my author mother (Melody Anne) I was able to complete my draft, affirming my passion for story telling. 

At this point I have two completed children book drafts written (that I co-authored with my husband), a first draft of a romantasy written (though it needs a lot of work), and a rom com written (which will be published April 16, 2024!). As you've picked up by now, my writing traverses various genres, including contemporary and romantic comedy, romantasy, young adult romantic fantasy, and children's picture books. Each of these is a reflection of my diverse interests and inspirations. 

My education has certainly played a role in supporting me to reach heights in my writing adventures. I started college at the University of Oregon and earned a Bachelor of Art in English. I worked for several years until I went back to college at Western Governors University, where I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Special Education with a special education teaching license. My life experiences have certainly played a role in shaping my writing style and voice. 

Currently my writing process involves waiting until my child goes to bed, and then working as quickly as I can to get these thoughts out! I love to write and to draw inspiration from every available moment. My favorite way to edit my writing is to print it out and mark up the paper full of black ink! I feel like I catch so much more by following this process. 

So much has led me to where I'm at in my writing journey. Reading has by far made the greatest influence. As a child my favorites were definitely Harry Potter and anything by Tamora Pierce. As I've grown my favorites include The Wheel of Time, The Name of the Wind, and The Serpent and the Wings of Night. 

Beyond the written word, my life is enriched by cherished moments with my husband, baby boy, and feline companions. We love to spend time outside, hiking, running, biking.. I also enjoy indulging in the fiber arts (in the rare moments my baby allows such). 

2024 is set to be a wild year with several upcoming projects. My debut novel, "Paper Hearts and Plot Twists" is set to release April 16, 2024. It promises a romantic whirlwind amidst the chaos of a book conference. I'm also hopeful for fall releases of two of my Children Picture books. That depends on the illustrators, though.
